Hydrogen Peroxide

Hydrogen Peroxide is a chemical compound with formula of H2O2. In its pure form, it is a very pale blue liquid that is slightly more viscous than water. It is used as an oxidizer, bleaching agent and antiseptic, usually as a dilute solution (3% - 6% by weight) in water for consumer use and in high concentrations for industrial use.

Last decade has marked an aggressive change in the global usage and need of hydrogen peroxide. From pulp & paper to the textile industry or waste water treatment and food industries, requirement of hydrogen peroxide has exponentially increased.

Pulp and Paper

The growing demand of recycled paper that has led to a visible change in the usage of Hydrogen Peroxide in Pulp and Paper industry. Hydrogen peroxide used in bleaching of chemical pulp, mechanical pulp, and recycled pulp (de-inking). It enables improvement in brightness stability of pulp, increases brightness level and reduces manufacturing cost contributing to the end product quality.

Textile

With the increased demand of universal bleaching agent, use of hydrogen peroxide in the Textile Industry has dominated use of other chemicals. Hydrogen Peroxide leading to a high bleaching effect at reasonable cost, especially in modern short-term bleaching processes. It is suitable for almost all fibres and can be used in any temperature and under different conditions.

Waste Water Treatment

Hydrogen Peroxide is used as an oxidizing agent in waste water treatment used to reduce BOD (Biochemical Oxygen Demand) and COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) of industrial waste water. It eliminates impurities and manages process water and waste water in an effective way.

Food Industry

Hydrogen Peroxide is used as bleaching agent and biocide in the food industry. High concentration grade H2O2 that helps in improving food color by bleaching it and increases the shelf life of products by sterilizing antiseptic packaging containers. It is used as antimicrobial agent in milk, as a bleaching agent in wheat flour, edible oil and egg white.

Mining Industry

Hydrogen Peroxide is used as an oxidant in the mining industry. It is used in the production process of expensive elements like gold and uranium and simplifies chemical management. H2O2 improves the overall process control and is used in various steps of metallurgical process.

Pharmaceuticals and Cosmetics

Hydrogen Peroxide used widely for medical purpose. It is used in contact lens solution and as antiseptic to prevent infection of minor cuts and burns. It is widely used in hair bleaching, teeth bleaching lotions, tooth paste, mouthwash, hair-care products etc.

Electronics Industry

Hydrogen Peroxide is used as an oxidizing agent in Electronics Industry. It is used as a mordant in the printed circuit board production process and as an oxidizing and cleaning agent in the manufacturing process of semiconductors.
